I
chose the New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom commercial for many reasons; one
being, I am a big kid at heart, and second, who doesn’t like Disney? This
commercial is a quick rush for any kid who loves Disney World and its magical
experience. The opening of this new addition to Fantasyland at Disney’s Magic
Kingdom in Orlando, Florida is the exigence, or situation that causes one to
speak out. Young children and their families are the primary audience, but I
feel that some other generations will see this and it will remind them of their
childhood with the commercial’s appeal to pathos. Our age group grew up watching
Disney movies such as: Alice in
Wonderland, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid and Cinderella. These classic
movies are all a part of the attractions in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. I
know for me personally, Belle is and has always been my favorite Disney
princess, so this commercial does target my interests of wanting to see how the
creators brought to life Belle’s world, as I’m sure it does for others. Some of
the constraints or things that might prevent the audience from taking action
would be the financial issue at hand. A trip to Disney these days, even for
Florida residents, is very pricey, ranging from about $89 and up. If a family
has more than one child, or if they do not live in a close proximity to Walt
Disney World, the likelihood of them going to see the new Fantasyland is slim
to none.
Although this commercial is short, it definitely holds the pieces to
the rhetorical situation and is effective. It is creative and the imaginative
techniques draw children and families in and make them want to come see the new Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom; whether it is to experience dining
in Beast’s castle or dive deep into Ariel’s new adventures.
Love that you chose this commercial, I wish I would have thought of it. I agree that the commercial is effective, after seeing it I know I want to go see it. I can only imagine what a little kid would do when they say this commercial.
ReplyDeleteGreat commercial choice, Alyssa! You are correct in saying that it takes our generation back to our childhood! It immediately grasped my attention and made me want to spend an absurd amount of money just to see Belle's castle (who happens to also be my favorite princess)! This commercial speaks to a large variety of people and captures everyone's attention with its bright colors and familiar characters. You did a great job identifying the exigence, audience, and constraints.
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with this commercial! it still captures my attention with the classics that we grew up with. I agree with you that it gives a larger audience and most importantly to the parents who are taking their children to these theme parks! you did a good job finding an interesting commercial that really hows exigence, audience, and constraints.
