Testing Today!
Today in middle schools and high school testing has become a huge issue. Everything that is taught in todays classes are to pass a test that show how the school is doing. Therefore instead of teaching and learning about things in the real world and things that will teach student what to be ready for in the real world, schools are basically being selfish. All the standardize testing take up months of time. There are only about the last month that the kids are actually taught about the real class. Throughout my child hood I have always been a scuba diver and my dad showed me the ocean and the life under neath it which has always brought happiness to the entire family. It was what we all did. When i got to high school my junior year i was so excited to be able to learn about the ocean in oceanography and all the creatures and how the sea worked. Instead all we did was do practice test after practice test talking and learning about things that didn't have to do with what they always talked about oceanography being. It wasn't until the last three weeks of school once the testing was over that we got to learn about the animals and dissect them and see where they were from. For me this ruined the class it was supposed to be one of my electives that as a junior i could finally take and i didnt end up learning mush of what i wanted to or what i should have been learning. I believe that if kids today were taught more about the real world and what the class had to do with the world instead of just taking test and getting an A so that the school looked good that we would be doing a lot better in the class. All of the test we take to practice for the FCATs and so on are just questions that are going to be on the test and not necessarily whats in the book or life.

I agree completely. I feel like the standardized tests are ridiculous and actually a waste because we don't really learn anything from it. The schools care more about us doing good on the FCAT then they do about us actually learning. Maybe that is why the U.S. education has fallen behind other countires
